Welcome to Wisdom of the I Ching
The I Ching, or “The Book of Changes,”
tells us that change is the only constant in life.
Change is part of the human condition, and the I Ching
serves as a guide to managing life’s changes.
TIMES OF GROWTH are beset with difficulties. They resemble a first birth. But these difficulties arise from the very profusion of all that is struggling to attain form. Everything is in motion: therefore if one perseveres there is a prospect of great success, in spite of the existing danger. From the Wilhelm Translation, Hexagram 3, Chun, Difficulty at the Beginning
Many years ago I found the I Ching, in what seemed, at the time, to be quite by accident. Perhaps you found yourself also wondering about the I Ching, and quite by accident, wandered here. At any rate, welcome. I hope this site will help you in understanding the I Ching and to enjoy the wonderful ideas it teaches, and the wisdom of the oracle.
What can you expect from an I Ching Reading?
An I Ching reading helps make sense of complex situations in life. Whether we realize it or not, we are on a planet where navigating changes, having adaptive abilities and developing an agility for dealing with shifting circumstances are requirements for survival and evolution. The I Ching will underline an inner truth already existing, and point to the outer forms and wider perspectives of natural law. An Oracle divination offers you a unique understanding of the world, yourself and others. The Oracle will often illuminate hidden factors, point out possibilities, advise correct action, explain your positioning (on a timeline, or in a relationship or business contract, etc.), and shine a light on factors and influences in any situation.
With no exceptions, you can expect your answer to be helpful and geared toward understanding yourself and your world better. You may recognize points of personal validation, insight, clarity, or the challenge of a different perspective, and most often will receive tools and rules that help in practice to focus and center on the questions at hand, and map the path through changes.
How does it work?
It is not simply “chance” that divines your hexagram, it is largely the concept of synchronicity, which explains that chance is not merely random, as outlined by Carl Jung in his forward to the Wilhelm/Baynes translation of the I Ching.
A reading is distinctly connected to the present situation whether regarding relationships, personal growth, achieving goals, making decisions, life-changing situations or even questions about others such as “How can I best help my friend?” “Is he/she doing the right thing?”. The answer reveals harmonies and discords in relationships, dynamics of challenges, and the overall best direction one can take. Most often a reading inspires a sense of deeper knowing, which helps us to keep our balance while we evolve and grow. You will have the opportunity to be fully aware on multi-dimensional levels and to become more masterful in managing your life.
“Life leads the thoughtful man on a path of many windings. Now the course is checked, now it runs straight again. Here winged thoughts may pour freely forth in words. There the heavy burden of knowledge must be shut away in silence. But when two people are at one in their inmost hearts, they shatter even the strength of iron or of bronze. And when two people understand each other in their inmost hearts, their words are sweet and strong, like the fragrance of orchids.”
